Dear Braeside Families

Well it looks like Spring may finally be here to stay.  We hope that everyone has a chance to get outside this weekend and enjoy some warm weather.

Thank you to the families who attended our School Council meeting on Tuesday night.  Over the next few weeks School Council members will be sharing information from the new Playground Committee, an upcoming Candy Gram sale, and a year-end event.

If you haven’t already, MARK YOUR CALENDARS for our May 1 Storytelling Celebration of Learning.

Your child will bring home an invitation in the next two weeks that will let you know if they are participating in the 6:00 pm (Group A performance) or 7:00 pm (Group B performance).  If your child is in the 6:00 pm performance plan on arriving at 5:45 pm and if your child is in the 7:00 pm performance, 6:45pm.  Each performance will include a grade-group performance in the gym and individual student performances throughout the school.  We know that students will be very excited to share with their family members their musical and storytelling skills!  If you have any questions about the Celebration of Learning, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher or Mrs. Bennett (mabennett@cbe.ab.ca).

Mr. Stockton will be working with your students next Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please ask your child what stood out to them the most and what story they are working on for the Celebration night.

Please see the information regarding Walking Field Trips on our Off-Site Activities page.

Grade 5 / 6 Families

Students are getting more and more excited about Outdoor School!  This week Mrs. Green visited the site and then shared some pictures and information with the students.  We know this is an exciting opportunity for students to learn some independence skills and spend a significant amount of time outdoors.

Please plan on attending the MANDATORY Outdoor School meeting on Thursday April 10th at 6:30 pm in the gym.  Student may attend the meeting with their families (the grade 6 students will have their science fair projects set up at the back of the gym to share).

Outdoor School fees have been posted on your MyCBE account.  If you have concerns regarding the cost of Outdoor school, please reach out to Ms. Blasken to discuss options.   It is important that every student has an opportunity to participate.

Enjoy the weekend,

Fiona Johnson and Melanie Bennett
