Dear Braeside Families,

We are looking forward to welcoming families tonight and tomorrow for Parent / Teacher Interviews.  It is important to connect with your child’s teacher about their progress.  Your child is encouraged to attend the conference with you.  Interviews will run tonight from 3:30 pm to 8:00 PM (In-person) and tomorrow from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (In-person or virtually).  There is no school for kindergarten students today and no school for any students tomorrow.  The conference manager is now closed.  If you have not yet booked an appointment, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher.

This year, as a school, we are exploring the question, “What’s Our Story?”  While you are in the school today or tomorrow, please stop by the library and take a look through some of the activities students have done so far this year connected to this question.  Currently, our kindergarten students are working on a project titled, “I Am Unique”.  Each day a few students share 2 objects with their class.  One object is meant to represent their cultural identity or heritage (e.g. objects that came from the country where their parents, grandparents or ancestors lived) and one object that represents something that makes them unique (e.g. interests, hobbies, family, friendships).  It has been so heartwarming to see the students share the different objects in the class.  They are proud of what makes them who they are and excited to share with their peers.

We will have boxes at the front door tonight and tomorrow for donations for the White Elephant sale.  During the White Elephant sale in December students will be able to purchase items for a family member for $1 or $2 that will be wrapped to take home.  Please consider donating gently used items such as:

  • Books
  • Scarves, necklaces and bracelets
  • Ties
  • Small household decorations (e.g. picture frames, candles, vases)
  • Stuffies
  • Puzzles or games

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found is overflowing with items!!  Please ensure you go through the items while you are here.  It is very helpful when you students have their names (written in sharpie) on the insides of their coats, hats, and mitts!  If you haven’t done this yet, please do so this weekend.

If your child is going to be absent from school and you are emailing your child’s teacher, please include Ms. Blasken in the front office so she can record their attendance accordingly (jlblasken@cbe.ab.ca

Enjoy the weekend,

Fiona Johnson and Melanie Bennett
