Dear Braeside Families

We hope this finds you looking forward to our Winter Fair tonight!  Please plan on stopping by anytime between 5 pm and 7 pm.

Some important details to note are:

  • School Council is still looking for volunteers to ensure the success of this event!  Please consider volunteering for shift (get your child to help you, they love to volunteer for these types of things!)
  • If you have ordered a Christmas Tree, it will be at the front of the school, labelled with your name (volunteers will be there to help you).
  • Students in the Div. 1 choir need to meet at 5:45 in the music room, singing will be at 6:00 pm.
  • Bring cash!  Especially loonies and toonies!  There will be a bake sale and a craft sale (all proceeds from the bake sale will go towards the grade 5 / 6 overnight trip – all grade 5 / 6 families are encouraged to donate baked goods to the sale, they can be dropped off at the school Thursday morning).
  • Students are VERY EXCITED about the crafts that they have made – check out our Instagram account for a sneak preview of some of the crafts that will be available.
  • Everyone is encouraged to wear something festive!  There will be a photobooth set up for families to take pictures.
  • White Elephant donation boxes will be set up at the front door.

Our School Development Plan is now posted on our school website.  We encourage everyone to take a moment to go through the plan and familiarize themselves with our priorities for the year.  You will be able to read through data we have used to help inform our plan as well as strategies and resources we have accomplish what we have identified.  If you have any questions or would like to discuss any aspect of the SDP please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to us (fejohnson@cbe.ab.ca, mabennett@cbe.ab.ca).  Link Here.

Recently we have noticed an increase in the number of students arriving late at school. We know that when it snows travel on the roads can become more challenging and encourage families to try and leave their house a few minutes earlier.  Soft entry is from 7:50 am to 8:00 am and school starts at 8:00 am.

With the weather quickly freezing and then warming throughout the week, lost and found throughout the school is continuing to grow.  Please ensure that you write your child’s name (in sharpie) in all their winter gear.  Items not collected next week will be donated.

We are still in need of more items for the White Elephant sale.  If you are cleaning out your closets this weekend, please consider donating gently used items for a cause!  Items donated will be available for students to purchase on December 13 for $1 or $2 to give to family members.  We still need more wrapping paper and / or gift bags as well.  This is another school council event that you can volunteer for!
