Good Afternoon Braeside Families
Happy New Year! We hope you have all enjoyed the first week back at school as much as we have! It’s been fantastic to welcome students back into the building and to jump right back into learning.
On January 27 you will be able to view your child’s report card through your MyCBE account. It is important to take the time to go through the report card and understand what has been shared by the classroom teacher. The CBE has released a video to help families understand the report card and proficiency scale used more thoroughly. Here is a direct link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18QjiMJFlqE
Please take the time to watch the video. This flat sheet also explains the 1 – 4 proficiency scale.
Please note that kindergarten report cards will look slightly different than grades 1 – 6, as progress in only ELAL and Math will be reported on.
If you have any questions about your child’s report card, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher directly.
School Council is excited to announce two things!
- They have officially formed a new playground committee and have “got the ball rolling”. This is going to be a HUGE job that will have a positive impact for all families in Braeside! If you are interested in supporting work around this initiative, please reach out directly to the council at braesidechair@gmail.com.
- Mark your calendars for this year’s Family Dance on February 20. Tickets will be sold at lunch on February 4 and 10 ($5 per ticket and all students must be accompanied by an adult). Pizza will be presold leading up to the dance and available during along with drinks, chips, glowsticks and neon face paint. The school council will require over 25 volunteers to make this event a success to please consider volunteering when the SignUp Genius comes out.
School council is also looking for 1 to 2 more volunteers to help with Fun Lunch. If you are interested or able to help once a month with this, please email Julia at braesidechair@gmail.com.
We are hosting our next spirit day on Friday January 17 – Favorite Cozy Clothes!
Please encourage your child to dress cozy that day and be here at 7:50 to join the dance party in the Learning Commons.
Enjoy the weekend.
