Dear Braeside Families
“This was the best day ever!” and, “That was so much fun!” were two things we heard repeatedly after the Family Dance last night. We want to extend a huge thank you to our School Council and the volunteers who worked to organize and run the dance last night. It was a great positive community building event, and we enjoyed seeing our students and their families having a good time together! Students were excited today to share personal stories and talk about their experiences.
Our School Council has done so much over the year that has had a direct positive impact on all students at Braeside School. They have allocated Casino funds for fieldtrips and in-school experiences for all classes as well as funded our three major residencies over the year, they organized the Welcome Back, Celebration of Learning Hotdog events and the Family Dance, ran a Staff Appreciation event, Candy Grams and Healthy Hunger throughout the year as well as purchased books for our Learning Commons and art supplies. Next year, School Council will be looking for more members to join their team! You only need to volunteer 2 to 3 hours a month to have a huge impact on the students at Braeside School. Please consider attending the first meeting of the 2024 – 2025 School Year on Tuesday September 3 at 6:30 pm in the Learning Commons.
Through their Jump Rope for Heart Fundraising Campaign students earned a Spirit Day and next Friday June 14 your child(ren) are encouraged to wear their PJs and bring a small stuffy to school!
Please choose safety over convenience when dropping off and picking up your child before and after school. We’ve noticed that many students are walking or running between cars to meet their families as well as an increased number of people doing U-turns in front of the school. Given the warmer weather we have been having more students are also riding their bikes. Please be mindful of our students, we don’t want anyone getting hurt.
We are in the thick of planning for the 2024-2025 School Year. If you know you will not be returning to Braeside School, please let us know as soon as possible. Also, we are hosting our Kindergarten Orientation on June 13th. Please encourage anyone you know who will be joining us for kindergarten next year to register with the school if they haven’t already.
