Dear Braeside Families, 

On Monday we welcomed our most recent Artist in Residence, Jeff Stockton to Braeside School.  He was FANTASTIC!!!  Throughout the day he met with each of the classes and introduced the art of Storytelling.  Students were truly mesmerized by his harp and ability to share a story.  Each story that he shared with the grades was different.  Please ask your child about this experience.  Mr. Stockton will be working with our students between now and May, teaching them how to plan and prepare a story to share with an audience.  On May 1st during our Celebration of Learning each student will have an opportunity to perform these stories to an audience.  Mark your calendars!  Please check out Jeff Stockton’s website to learn more (https://www.jeffstockton.ca/)

Ramadan Mubarak!  

February 28 marked the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and we are happy to support students throughout the month. If your child(ren) have any needs during this time of prayer and fasting, please let their homeroom teacher know.   

Engagement

Each year we look to gather feedback from our families on school planning.  Currently we are offering an online engagement entitled School Planning Survey 2025 | Elementary that you have the opportunity to share your thoughts on.  This survey will remain open until March 31, 2025 - 11:59 PM and should take approximately 13 minutes to complete.  Please click on the survey link.

Next Year Planning

Although it seems early, we are already starting to plan for next year.  If you anticipate your child(ren) moving out of Braeside School next year, please let us know as soon as possible (email Ms. Blasken at jlbalsken@cbe.ab.ca). 

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration is now open.  Please visit this link for more information.  If you require help with registration, please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Blasken in the main office.  If you have friends, family members or neighbours with children going into kindergarten next year please encourage them to register as well. 

Grade 5 / 6 Families

Your child’s Outdoor School fee has now been posted to your MyCBE account.   Between now and May 6 please go into your account and pay this fee.  It can be paid all at once or broken up over the next several months.  If you have concerns over the cost of Outdoor school, please reach out to Ms. Blasken to discuss options.  It is important that every student has an opportunity to participate.  Please ensure you have marked April 10 in your calendars for the mandatory parent meeting.
