Dear Braeside Families,

Wow!  We have truly had a fantastic week at Braeside School.

Students continued to be very excited about their Braeside U courses and the grade 5 / 6 students enjoyed their last day of Basketball Club.  In addition to this, there were many fantastic learning opportunities throughout the grades.  The 5 / 6 students enjoyed testing their balloon powered vehicles and creating Moon Lit Pine Tree scenes, the 3 / 4’ have started a new book, The Lemonade War (prepare for an abundance of Lemonade stands this summer), the 1 / 2’s continued exploring 3D shapes and solidifying their adding and subtracting skills and the kindergarten students made Promise Bracelets and met The Snow Thief.  Ask your child what stood out most for them this week and check out your child’s Instagram account for some pictures and videos.

Each year we look to gather feedback from our families on school planning.  Currently we are offering an online engagement entitled School Planning Survey 2025 | Elementary that you have the opportunity to share your thoughts on.  This survey will remain open until March 31, 2025 - 11:59 PM and should take approximately 13 minutes to complete.

Message from Our School Council

Thank you to all of the parents, families and volunteers who made the school dance such a success! Whether you danced your heart out in the gym, helped sell and run tickets, or handed out pizza, you all played a role in the fun! It was wonderful to see such an amazing community turn out and we look forward to doing it again!

For the month of March, School Council will be holding its meeting online! If you've always wanted to come but getting to the school during the evening has been a barrier, now is your chance! The general council meeting will be on Tuesday, March 4 at 6:30pm. If you would like to join in on the Fundraising Committee meeting before the general meeting, please log-in at 6:15pm.

Kindergarten registration is now open.  Read More! If you require help with registration, please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Blasken in the main office.  If you have friends, family members or neighbours with children going into kindergarten next year please encourage them to register as well.

Please remember that tomorrow is a Professional Learning Day and there is no school for students.  We look forward to welcoming them back on Monday when they will be introduced to our next Artist in Residence, Jeff Stockton.  Jeff Stockton is an award-winning Celtic harpist and storyteller who is going to be working through the art of storytelling with your child.  This residency will end with student performances showcased during our Celebration of Learning on May 1.  Mark your calendars!  Please visit his website over the weekend with your child to get them excited about this upcoming residency.

Grade 5 / 6 Families

Through School Council fundraising efforts, grade 5 / 6 students were able to raise a total of $1052 to put towards Outdoor School fees.  This has been divided amongst the grade 5 / 6 students and the remaining balance of $299 has now been posted in your MyCBE account.  Between now and May 6 please go into your account and pay this fee.  It can be paid all at once or broken up over the next several months.  If you have concerns over the cost of Outdoor school, please reach out to Ms. Blasken to discuss options.   It is important that every student has an opportunity to participate.  Please ensure you have marked April 10 in your calendars for the mandatory parent meeting.

Please see the attached flat-sheet for information on accessing your MyCBE account to pay fees.  If you need support with this, please reach out directly to Ms. Blasken (jlblasken@cbe.ab.ca
