Good Afternoon Braeside Families!
We hope everyone is looking forward to a cozy weekend with this fresh dump of snow! There is nothing more delightful for students than a school field of crisp, untouched snow, and students truly enjoyed that at the start of this week!
Yesterday our Kindergarten students experienced their first field trip! They ventured to Heritage Park where they visited a traditional school room participating in a variety of activities including adding kindling to a wood-burning potbellied stove to keep everyone warm as well as chalk and chalkboards. They also went on a horse drawn sleighride. They were excited to share when they returned to school. Please visit the class Instagram page to see some videos and photos highlighting the trip!
Booking for Parent-Teacher Conferences opens today at 4:00 pm. Please logon to your MyCBE account to book an appointment. It is important to connect with your child’s teacher about their progress so far this year. Your child is encouraged to attend the conference with you. Interviews will run Thursday night from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm (In-person) and Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm (In-person or virtually). There is no school for Kindergarten students on Thursday and no school for any students on Friday.
It is less than two weeks until the School Council Winter Fair! Please plan on attending any time from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There will be lots of fun activities including a photobooth, hot chocolate, a craft and bake sale and families who have ordered a Christmas Tree will be able to pick it up that night. Please bring some loonies and toonies with you for the craft and bake sale. The Div. 1 choir will be doing a performance at 6:00 pm. Prepare to have your heart melted!
School Council will require volunteers to ensure the evening is a huge success! Please consider volunteering for the Winter Fair and White Elephant Sale:

We are looking forward to welcoming Quest Theater on Monday November 25 for a ‘Snow White’ Production. Quest Theater is a fantastic company that brings theater alive in schools. Their productions are engaging and fun, students always enjoy the experience and there are always good ‘life lessons’ included. Please visit their website for more information about the company and our upcoming production (link here).
Teachers have been talking to the students about the upcoming show and what to expect and it will help strengthen their personal experiences if you also talk to them about it over the weekend. Ask them, “Why is theater important?”, “What might you look forward to in a live show?”, “What are you curious about?” Visit this link to learn specific information about the show. Monday afterschool ensure you follow up with your child be asking them, “What did you enjoy most and why?”, “Was there any parts of the play you found surprising?”, or “What did the actors do to portray the characters?”
In the Spring for our Celebration of Learning all students will be preforming a story for their classmates and family members, and this is a fantastic opportunity to get students excited about their personal performances. Thank you to School Council for sponsoring this valuable event!
If your child is going to be absent from school and you are emailing your child’s teacher, please include Ms. Blasken in the front office so she can record their attendance accordingly (jlblasken@cbe.ab.ca)
Enjoy the weekend!
