Dear Braeside Families, 

Happy Friday!  We hope that everyone has an opportunity to get outside this weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather. 

It was fantastic to see so many family members join the School Council meeting on Tuesday night!  Please see the message below from our School Council Chair: 

Thank you to everyone who came out for the first School Council meeting of the year! It was great to see so many new and returning faces! As a parent at the school, you are a member of the council, so please feel free to come out to any (or all!) meeting(s) and hear about the great work that is going on. For example, Council activities and fundraisers support important initiatives like field trips and artist residencies for the students. We look forward to seeing you there! If you wish to be part of the School Council email list, please email here to be added. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, October 7th in the Learning Commons. We will start with a meeting of the Fundraising Society from 6:15-6:45, then hold our annual AGM, followed by a regular council meeting. The AGM will be your opportunity to run or vote for Executive and non-Executive positions on the Council. 

Next Friday we will be having our first spirit day of the year, and the theme is, Braeside Blue Blast!  If your child has Braeside Wear, please encourage them to wear it proudly to school that day.  If they don’t have a Braeside shirt encourage them to wear anything blue!!  We will start the morning in the Learning Commons at 7:50 with a school dance party. Don’t be late!

This year, our school is proud to participate in the 45th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run.  As a school we will be recognizing the event and participating in the run on Tuesday September 23 at 1:00 pm and we need your help!  We are going to expand the boundaries of the run this year to include a community component and we need family volunteers to help direct students.  If you can volunteer that day, please reach out directly to Mrs. Green (shlgreen@cbe.ab.ca).  Our school fundraising goal is $1300.  Families who wish to contribute can do so online using the following link:  https://schools.terryfox.ca/97947  

Save the date!  September 25 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm is our Welcome Back Event. You will have an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and visit their learning spaces. School Council will be selling small items like popsicles, juice and chips in the front foyer.
