Dear Braeside Families,
We hope this finds you warm and dry on this rainy day!
It was a great full week of learning at Braeside School! Students were engaged in many different activities and lessons. What continues to stand out is the staff and students working hard to develop a sense of belonging and a strong community. We know that students do better in school and are more successful in their learning when they feel like they belong, and they are connected to others in a supportive way. They are more willing to take risks, think outside the box and push themselves. Today the grade 5/6 students participated in an activity where they had to work carefully to listen to their group leaders to complete a cooperative drawing exercise. Successful learners are good listeners! Ask your child about their learning community and how they see themself in it.
We are very excited to welcome everyone next week to our ‘Meet the Teacher’ event next Thursday September 26. Please plan on visiting the school anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 PM and participating in the School Councils Hotdog Fundraiser (see the flyer below and SignUp Genius to help - please consider volunteering!! Students love these types of activities and School Council can‘t run these events without volunteers!). Your child will be able to tour you around the school and share their Self-Portrait activity.
Please remember there will be no school on September 27 for students as this is a Professional Learning Day for staff. It was great to see so many students wearing blue today! If you’d like to order some Braeside Wear the On-line store is open until the end of the month. Visit Braeside School's Online Store!
Monday is School Photo Day
Have your child wear their best smile!
Book Fair
Don’t forget that next week we are hosting a Book Fair. Students will be able to visit the book fair during the week and it will be open Thursday from 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Ms. Ranger (our librarian) is looking for some volunteers to help her out on Thursday and Friday. If you are able to help, please email her directly at plranger@cbe.ab.ca.
Our next spirit day will be hosted on Friday October 4 and it is a TWIN DAY! Encourage your child to dress together with a classmate(s). For example, all wear hoodies and crocs or all wear T-shirts with their favorite characters. If your child doesn’t want to Twin with a classmate encourage them to wear blue!
Action Required - All families need to visit their child’s MyCBE – Online Forms parent portal to complete this year’s required forms (Demographic Verification updates, Annual Volunteer and Media Release). We appreciate families doing this as quickly as possible. If you need support with setting up or accessing your child's account please reach out directly to Ms. Blasken (jlblasken@cbe.ab.ca).
Enjoy the weekend!
