Dear Braeside Families

It has truly been an exceptional startup to the school year!  Staff and students have worked seamlessly to get to know each other and establish classroom expectations and routines.  We have already seen many students engaged in their learning and excited to come to school.  One student said to us today, “I wish that this was a full day.”

This year as a school we will be exploring the theme, “Many Threads Woven as One”.  We will use this as an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of each of our students and then look how we come together as one community.  In our ‘Welcome Back’ assembly on Wednesday we read the book, I am Me, A Book of Authenticity by Susan Verde and Peter H. Reynolds.  This is a great introductory book for this topic.  We would encourage all families to read the book together (you can find it on YouTube) over the weekend and open a conversation with their children about their unique gifts and abilities.  We want our students to be proud of themselves and celebrate who they are.

Upcoming Events

  • School Council will be hosting their first meeting on Tuesday September 9 at 6:30 pm in the Learning Commons.  School Council is a great place to meet other Braeside Community members and learn first-hand about what is happening at school.  Please consider attending the meeting!
  • On Thursday September 25 we will be hosting a ‘Welcome Back to School’ event from 4:30 – 6:30.  All families are encouraged to attend as you will have an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and tour the school.

Classrooms will be using Instagram to share daily updates.  Please consider following your child’s classroom account:

Enjoy the weekend.
