Good Afternoon Braeside Families, 

Welcome to the 2024 – 2025 school year!  We hope this finds you enjoying the last few days of the summer break.  

We are looking forward to having your child(ren) back in the building on August 29 but wanted to share a few key messages prior to your child starting: 

• If you have moved over the summer and do not plan on returning to Braeside School this year, please email us as soon as possible (mabennett@cbe.ab.ca and jlblasken@cbe.ab.ca).  If you know of someone who has moved into our community and needs to register, please encourage them to do so ASAP! 
• School hours for grades 1 – 6 are: 
• • Monday to Thursday 7:50 AM – 2:40 PM (soft entry from 7:50 AM to 8:00 AM) 
  • Friday 7:50 AM – 12:00 PM (soft entry from 7:50 AM to 8:00 AM) 
• Your child’s teacher will be emailing you on Tuesday August 27 by noon welcoming you to the school year.  This email will include contact information and first day procedures.  If you do not receive an email by Tuesday noon, please call the school on Tuesday afternoon or on Wednesday August 28.    
• All your child’s school supplies will be provided in the classroom.  You will need to ensure your child has the following: 
• • A backpack, a water bottle, a packed lunch and a snack (please include all utensils your child may need) and be sure that they are able to open all items 
  • Clean indoor running shoes (that can remain at school)  
  • Please ensure all items are clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name 
• Staff are officially back at school on Monday August 26.  Our office will be open starting Monday and moving forward from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Please feel free to call or email Ms. Blasken (jlblasken@cbe.ab.ca) if you have any questions. 
• Our first School Council meeting will be held Tuesday September 3 at 6:30 PM in the Learning Commons. Please consider attending!  It is a great way to meet other members of our community and learn first-hand about our school. Please visit their website.  
• Our first School Spirit Day will be on Friday September 6th and the theme is Braeside Blue!!  Please encourage your child(ren) to wear their Braeside clothing or something blue!  If you would like to order from our School Store please visit the online store. 
• Save the Date!  Meet the Teacher night will be hosted on Thursday September 26.    

Enjoy the last few days of summer vacation and we look forward to seeing students next week!
