Dear Braeside Families,
How did the year fly by so fast??!! It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming your children into the building on the first day of school.
The 2023 – 2024 school year truly was fantastic! We saw our students grow and learn in so many ways. They started the year by developing their Inner Coach and this work helped them to continue developing their Growth Mindset all year long. We hope that you can support your child(ren) over the summer in continuing this work. If you hear them say, “I can’t do this,” help them rephrase it with, “I can’t do this yet.” Remind them as much as possible that they can do hard things and that doing hard things is what helps them grow into the best version of themselves.
Keep your child(ren) reading over the summer!! Take them to the library, set up a simple reading routine, and most importantly, read with them. When children see the adults in their lives reading, they are more likely to read. Consider signing them up for the Calgary Public Library Ultimate Reading Challenge (Link Here). Along with reading throughout the summer, make sure you are supporting your child(ren) by practicing their basic math facts with them. Make it fun!! There are tons of games you can play!
Report cards are now viewable through our MyCBE account. Report cards may be viewed, downloaded and / or printed. For best access, log into the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App. If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card, please reach out directly to the teacher.
Library books are now past due. If you have Braeside library books at home, please save them and send them back to school in the fall. There will be a fee administered for books not returned. Please review your MyCBE account for outstanding fees. Fees are located under the Student Fees & Services Registration tab.
If you move over the summer and your child(ren) will not be returning to Braeside School in the fall, please send us an email over the break (mabennett@cbe.ab.ca and jlblasken@cbe.ab.ca). The office will officially open on Monday August 26 at 8:00am. Please expect to hear from your child(ren)’s teacher on Tuesday August 27. They will reach out with the first few days' information.
Check our calendar page for the 2024 – 2025 Braeside School Calendar.
We truly hope that everyone has the chance to rest and relax over the break and connect with their friends and family.
Take care,
Fiona Johnson and Melanie Bennett
